Registration for the 2024 CACNS Annual Conference is officially open! Join us in-person on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 8:30am to 3:30pm at the University of San Francisco - Fromm Hall for an exciting event exploring cutting-edge advancements in Clinical Nurse Specialist practice. The conference theme for this year is Innovation, Excellence, and Advancing the Practice of the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
We are honored to have Jill Ley, MS, RN, CNS, FAAN, founder of Essentials of Cardiac Surgical Resuscitation, as our keynote speaker. We have also planned engaging presentations on quality and safety trackers, AI-guided technology, CAUTI reduction strategies, and social isolation among older adults. Our conference will conclude with our endnote speaker, NACNS President Jennifer Manning, DNS, ACNS-BC, CNE, FCNS, presenting on the pivotal role of CNSs in leading change within healthcare. Nurse Educator at Essentials of Cardiac Surgical Resuscitation LLC
I am a subject matter expert on Cardiac Surgical Resuscitation (CSR), having trained over a thousand providers nationwide in how to respond to a cardiac surgical arrest following STS guidelines, which I co-authored. I worked at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) for almost 40 years, as a CNS for Cardiac Surgery, then Perioperative. My work since 2021 has focused on making evidence-based CSR skills available to centers wishing to institute local training. Additionally, my work through CTSNet.org promotes the development of multidisciplinary education for cardiac surgical advanced practice providers internationally. Experienced Registered Nurse with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital & health care industry. Skilled in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Healthcare, Patient Advocacy, and Medicine. Strong healthcare services professional with a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN).
National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) President
Dr. Manning is a three-time graduate of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing (LSUHSC SON) (BSN - 2000, MSN - 2007, and DNS - 2014). Dr. Manning began her nursing career as a critical care nurse at East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH). She began her academic career as a critical care faculty in 2008. In 2013, she accepted a position as the RN to BSN Articulation Program director, and in 2015 began her position as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs. In 2008, she obtained board certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and in 2014 completed her CNE certification. Dr. Manning served as president of the Epsilon Nu chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor society from 2013-2015. She was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Nursing in 2018 for a four-year appointment. In 2021, she was elected to the board for the National Association for Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS).In 2023, she was elected President-Elect of NACNS. In 2023, she was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Louisiana State Nurses Association.
